‍The German shipyard Fassmer has partnered with SEAONICS to develop tailored equipment for deep-sea exploration. “We’re glad to collaborate with Fassmer to expand what design and technology can achieve,” says Fauske.

The drop keel's innovative design, featuring low-noise performance, enables Walther Herwig to perform advanced data collection and sampling with minimal interference to sensitive sensors. This feature is essential for supporting accurate research in marine biology, geology, and climate science.

The contract with Fassmer reinforces SEAONICS’ commitment to the research vessel segment.

Building on the experience gained from equipping the icebreaker-class vessel “Kronprins Haakon,” SEAONICS has deepened its understanding of these specialized operations, enabling our specialists to provide even more advanced support for researchers and vessel designers in shaping the next generation of research vessels.
