Moonpool

Moonpool

The Moonpool LARS comprises basically the same building blocks, including a skid, as the Overside LARS and has similar specifications but is typically installed in an inboard hangar inside the ship that provides greater protection from the elements.

As well as offering a better work environment for personnel, this solution provides enhanced stability for deployment of equipment in rough weather as it is more insulated from wind and wave motion, thus saving time. This is beneficial, for example, when deploying drilling equipment from an inboard rig.

An additional feature on the Moonpool LARS is a winch-routing component with routing sheaves that guide the umbilical from the hydraulic power unit via a cursor winch to the top frame.

Overside LARS

Overside LARS

The Overside LARS has hydraulically and electrically operated overside frames with a high operational range, available with both a standardized and customized design.

Winches come as an electric single or multi-drive solution with permanent magnet or standard AC motors. The drum size is of standard or custom design. Power is regenerated back into the ship’s grid when the winch pays out rope, resulting in reduced energy usage and emissions. The skidding system has an electrical drive solution, with the option for battery power.

Variants:
  • A-Frame Overside LARS
  • Overhead LARS
  • Compact Mobile Overside Lars
  • Swing Out LARS
  • Containerized LARS
